Archaeology of Pull Tabs

Return from CHAT, with great gifts!

I just returned from the Contemporary and Historical Archaeology in Theory Conference in London, where I receive a really nice gift from Dr. Sefryn Penrose, the departing chair of CHAT (www.chat-arch.com). It is a ring pull artwork ceramic plate! The classic motive of the plate was tastefully enriched with S-VI type pull tabs, bringing together the old and the new, the traditional and unconventional. The plate is here holding all tabs collected for/at this CHAT by my colleague committee members. The round one on the right is a T-XVIII-1 type ring pull found by Dr. Laura McAtackney at Palamidi Castle (Nafplio, Greece) and is the first example of its type found/reported in Europe. The top one was curated a the CHAT-decompression event by Dr. Anna McWilliams from a gin-tonic. The one on the left-bottom was found by me on the corner near Museum of London Archaeology Mortimer wheeler house. Many thanks Sef, Laura, Anna!
